MOSCOW. Russian president Vladimir Putin on Monday in an extensive television speech declared that the entry of Ukraine into the alliance ONTO it is agreed in advance and is only a matter of time.

He emphasized that Ukraine’s accession to NATO would pose a direct threat to security Russia. According to Putin, Ukraine will become the starting point for the attack.

According to Putin, the question of time is also when Ukraine will build its own nuclear weapon. He noted that Ukraine has the capacity to do so since Soviet times. He said that Russia could not respond to this real danger.

Putin began his speech, addressed to both “Russians and Ukrainians,” with an excursion into history, returning to the years after the Bolshevik Revolution, when Soviet statehood was being built.

The leader of the Russian Bolsheviks, Lenin, Putin called Ukraine the “author and architect”. He declared that Ukraine was created by Communist Russia and is an integral part of Russian history.

He criticized the Bolshevik and later the communist leadership for their mistakes and decisions, which became apparent in the wake of the collapse of the USSR. In this context, he criticized in particular the right of individual federal republics to withdraw from the USSR.

“The disintegration of our country was led by the strategic mistakes of the Communist Party leadership. The disintegration of historical Russia under the name of the USSR is their fault,” Putin said. However, he added that the Russian nation accepted the new geopolitical situation after the collapse of the USSR and helped the former republics, including Ukraine.

In Putin’s view, however, Ukraine has never succeeded in forming its own stable statehood, copying only foreign models, “detached from its own history and realities.”

He noted that Ukraine is ruled by politicians seceded from a nation that is not about the people, but about “serving Russia’s geopolitical enemies.”

He argued that electoral procedures in Ukraine only served to redistribute power among oligarchic clans. He also pointed to alleged nationalism, Russophobia and neo-Nazism in Ukraine. He declared that all branches of power in Ukraine are “eaten away by corruption”.

Anti-government protests against Ukraine’s departure from integration into Western structures have been described by Putin as a foreign-backed and coup-financed coup.

He declared that the so-called Maidan has not brought Ukraine closer to development and progress, “she is at a dead end”, she is in a civil war and a deep economic crisis that is forcing people to go abroad for work and a better life.

According to Putin, all decisions of authorities and state companies in Ukraine are influenced by a network of foreign advisers and non-governmental organizations. He declared that there were virtually no independent courts in Ukraine, and although the government in Kiev, with the help of the United States, was trying to fight corruption, the results had not been achieved.

“Everything is just worse,” he said.

The US does not take into account Russia’s concerns

In a speech, Putin said that the “Russian language was being expelled” from schools in Ukraine, freedom of speech was being suppressed, the opposition was being persecuted, sanctions were being adopted against its own citizens, as well as against deputies. According to him, believers professing the Moscow Patriarchate are also oppressed.

As for Crimea, Putin declared that in 1954 he was the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev “for some reason” he took from Russia and gave it to Ukraine.

According to him, Joseph Stalin joined the USSR after the Great Patriotic War and transferred to Ukraine some territories that previously belonged to Poland, Romania and Hungary, and as part of some compensation, endowed Poland with the original part of German territory. “This is how the territory of Soviet Ukraine was formed,” Putin summed up.

The Russian president has acknowledged that each country has the right to conclude military pacts at its own discretion. According to Putin, however, it must be true that security “must be equal and indivisible” and not at the expense of foreign states.

He recalled that the US during the presidency Billa Clinton reacted reluctantly to proposals to make Russia a member of NATO as well.

He criticized that the US has not yet taken into account Russia’s concerns. “You don’t want to see us as friends and allies, but why you make us enemies,” Putin asked.

He recalled that NATO had expanded in five waves, leaving its military infrastructure at Russia’s borders, which it described as “the main cause of the European security crisis”. He added that this situation is getting worse, e.g. deployment of missile defense systems in Poland and Romania.

He reiterated that Russia is in favor of solving problems through diplomatic channels.

According to Putin, the West is trying to blackmail Russia and threaten sanctions, for which, according to him, it will always find a pretext. The main goal is to “delay Russia’s development”.

He said that Ukraine was not interested in a peaceful solution in Donbas, “wants to organize a blitzkrieg”, while the civilized world leaves this action in Kiev unnoticed.

At the end of his speech, Putin said he considered it necessary to recognize the self-proclaimed republics declared independent states by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. At the same time as the relevant decrees, it also signed cooperation agreements with the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

At the same time, Putin called on Ukraine to “immediately” end its military operations in the east of the country or to take responsibility for possible bloodshed, as it recognized the independence of the East Ukrainian separatists.
