The public prosecutor of Agen Manuella Garnier clarified the circumstances of the murder of a 31-year-old mother in Marmande, which occurred on the night of Wednesday February 16 to Friday February 17, 2022.

The circumstances of the murder

Mother of three children, the victim, Laura De Pradena Caceres, had been assaulted at her home before leaving, probably to get help, and would have collapsed in front of her neighbor’s door.

The autopsy revealed that he was stabbed eight times in the face, skull, neck, upper limbs and left flank of his torso. It was the blow to the flank that was fatal to him.

The victim’s former companion, who had picked up their 6-year-old child the day before, was quickly found and exonerated.

The CCTV tapes of a bank, located near the victim’s home, made it possible to identify that she had returned shortly before the facts in the company of a man.

A first man arrested

Quickly questioned, the man who had accompanied her, aged 31, explained that they had just spent the evening together and “had had a sexual relationship”.

The evening would have started at the victim’s home with a friend of theirs, before continuing to Tonneins; while their friend, drunk, would have fallen asleep, the mother of the family and the thirty-year-old would have left the place.

Arriving at the victim’s home, they would have come face to face with their friend, who had also been dating the victim for a few weeks. The latter, having noted their departure, would have reached the victim’s home by hitchhiking.

An argument would then have broken out following the fact that the man, taken with rage, would have understood that the victim had a sentimental relationship with the one who accompanied him. He would then have fled. A few minutes later, Laura De Pradena Caceres was found dead.

The second man implicated

“This second man was quickly identified and arrested on February 18, 2022 at six a.m. in La Réole, and placed in police custody,” explains the public prosecutor. He is a 41-year-old facade coater.

According to him, after having reached the victim’s home following his lonely awakening, he would have entered through the window and would have waited for his return.

When he arrived, about an hour later, the altercation would then have taken place with the person who was accompanying the victim. While the latter fled, the respondent would then have led the victim inside his home.

As the tone rose, he allegedly first tried to silence his cries by putting his hand in front of his mouth. Seeing that it did not work, he would then have grabbed a knife before stabbing her.

The prosecutor specifies that “given the number of blows, their violence, and the place where they were carried, the homicidal intention seems to me in the characterized state. “A judicial investigation was therefore opened “on the count of murder by a person acting in a state of obvious intoxication”.
