The Olympic team is full of talented players and one of them is Juraj Slafkovský, who asks a lot of attention with his style of play.

At the end of April 2021, national team scout Oto Haščák said that Slovakia was waiting for the most successful NHL draft in history, wrote News. A 17-year-old miracle

Juraj Slafkovský was born on March 30, 2004 in Košice, which became his home team. His talent was never questioned. According to Elite Prospects worked in the 2017/2018 season in the Košice team of 16-year-olds. He was only 13 at the time. He also played several matches for the under-18 team this season.

His talent attracted attention and after a successful season in the HC Košice youth teams, a good season abroad awaited him. He started in the Red Bull Hockey Academy team in Austria, from which he later left for the Czech Republic. There he worked in HK Hradec Králové U16 and U19. He ended this season with his debut at the Under-16 World Youth Championships.

Thanks to a good season, the young hockey player went to Finland for good luck, where he worked at the Turun Palloseura club. During the 2019/2020 season, he played in teams under the age of 16, 18 and 20.

He did best in the U18 team, as he scored up to 52 points during the season. During this season, the coaches of the youth teams also noticed the potential of the young player, and Slafkovský became part of the Slovak youth under 16, under 17 and under 18.

The 2020/2021 season is clearly a turning point for the young hockey player. He obviously liked Finland, so he decided to stay there. However, he also appeared in the team’s under-20 jersey, which may have helped him get into the Slovak national team of the same age category.

However, the majority of the Slovak audience began to perceive Slafkovsky only thanks to the senior championships in Latvia.

Perfect debut

Slafkovský deserved an invitation to the senior team thanks to the preparatory matches of the junior national team. The young and talented striker competed for the first time in the jersey of the senior national team against the Latvians.

He really used his chance, because he complemented his great performance with the only goal that secured us the victory. The attacker thus surprised not only the whole of Slovakia, but also himself.
