They quickly forgot to lose to Slovakia: the Americans untied themselves to a boisterous party! – Športky.sk

BEIJING – US hockey players took part in a boisterous party after losing to Slovakia (2: 3 after the raids) in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament in Beijing. Residents of the Olympic Village complained about the noise, which lasted until late at night.

The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) confirmed this on Saturday, saying that the incident had already been discussed with the management of the US Hockey Association. “We oversee high standards of conduct for U.S. athletes. After discussions with the US Hockey management, we can confirm this information.” USOPC said on Saturday. However, the US hockey team will not be punished for the incident. “Athletes will stay in the Olympic Village until their scheduled departures,” quotes TASR from the USOPC statement to the AP agency.

According to the AP, the players of the American team, which included 15 hockey players from university leagues, did not cause any property damage. The scandal at the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano was not repeated. The American NHL stars, after being eliminated in the quarterfinals (with the Czech Republic 1: 4), caused $ 3,000 in damage when they demolished the hotel rooms, from which they threw various objects from their windows, including chairs and a fire extinguisher.

Coach David Quinn’s charges entered the Beijing Olympic tournament with three victories, including a 4: 2 triumph over Canada, and as the best team, they advanced directly to the quarterfinals. In it, however, they succumbed to the Slovaks 2: 3 after the raids and said goodbye to the Olympic Games 2022.
