It has catalysed a number of criticisms since its entry into force. the vaccination pass, successor to the health pass, could it soon leave our lives? Since the beginning of February already, many restrictions disappear step by step.
Goodbye the compulsory wearing of the mask outdoors, forced telework and gauges in stadiums and concert halls. Hello to discotheques, closed for several months, and for standing consumption in a bar, and even just consumption in public transport and places open to the public.
As of February 28, we will no longer even have to wear a mask in places subject to the vaccination pass. But precisely, for the moment, nothing really concrete about the latter.
“reasons for hope”
To hear the government, a reduction or even the disappearance of the pass is a possibility. Gabriel Attal, his spokesman, said during the report of the Council of Ministers of Wednesday February 9, 2022, that there were “reasons for hope. »
At the microphone of FranceInfomore than a week later, Olivier Véran, the Minister of Health, even ventured a date forecast : “end of March, beginning of April”. Contacted by news.frthe Directorate General of Health confirms these remarks.
But in this perspective, it is necessary to observe an even more marked decline in the epidemic. Olivier Véran estimates that between 1,000 and 2,000 Covid patients in intensive care are needed. And this Friday, February 18, 2022, 3,055 people filled the beds.
The Minister of Health also mentions the incidence rate, which is still too high. As of February 14, it was still at 1,202 per 100,000 inhabitants. “A figure which remains higher than the spring 2020 record”, specified Gabriel Attal during the report.
Mid-March corresponds to the crossroads of these parameters: hospitals in normal working order, a virus which circulates but very weakly, and enough hindsight compared to February 28, the date on which we can remove the masks where there are has the pass, so that you can then remove the mask indoors, and remove the vaccination pass.
The epidemic is losing strength
And even if the figures are still too high to think of an end to the epidemic, they decreaseand that is encouraging.
3,055 people are currently in intensive care, for example, but they were twice as many at the height of the epidemic, in April 2020. By mid-January 2022, almost 4,000 people were occupying intensive care beds.
And the same goes for the incidence rate. According to the latest figures from Public health France, there were, as of February 17, 1,202 contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants. However, less than a month ago, on January 25, 3,801 French people out of 100,000 were positive.
“A risky bet”
The numbers are better, it’s undeniable, but is this enough to consider a return to normal life? Not sure.
“We have a bit of the feeling of moving towards the end. Corn we are not immune to the emergence of a new variant”believes François Bricaire, former head of the infectious and tropical diseases department at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital, contacted by news.fr.
We were showered by Omicron, whose wave we would never have endured without the vaccination.
And Henri Agut, former director of the virology department of this same hospital agrees with him. “We tend to think that mutations [qui mènent à de nouveaux variants ndlr] will necessarily be positive, but this is not the case. It’s unpredictable”he says to news.fr.
Finally, according to these two specialists, removing the vaccine pass so early remains “a risky bet. »
