The New Stage Theater in Bratislava has published the cast of the upcoming musical The Bodyguard. And the names of the women who finally appear in the lead role will surprise you.

The title character of the singer Rachel Marronová, played in the film of the same name by Whitney Houston, will be played in alternation by three actresses, namely Mirka Gális Partlová, Mamba Dasha Šarközyová as a guest and Lenka Machciníková, who is a member of the New Stage ensemble.
According to musical director Patrik Vyskočil, the creators were not looking for a new Whitney Houston. “Even though the musical is full of Whitney Houston’s hits, it’s not her biographical story. We were looking for a representative for Rachel Marron, so I bet on a different typology of actresses. I’m looking forward to everyone bringing something special to this task, “says director Vyskočil.
According to him, Partlová has long been synonymous with a great musical artist, in her case he was safe. “Dasha ‘Mamba’ Sarkozy absolutely thwarted me at the audition with her singing interpretation. We played together in several productions, so I know her strengths, which she can use in this task, “the director admitted. He also evaluated the qualities of Lenka Machciníková, the youngest of the three representatives. “She convinced us at the audition with her sovereign dance and singing performance.”
Many well-known names appeared at the competition in the fight for the main role, among them, for example, actress and singer Nela Pocisková, also well known from television – her colleague Dominika Richterová or musical actresses and sisters Petra Malachovská and Lucia Bugalová. Of the three “winners” of the audition for the main role, the original name Partlová or Šarkozy did not appear in the lists and their names were not publicized.
The future representatives of the title character agree that performing in a famous musical will be a great challenge for them and at the same time a dream come true. “Singing Whitney Houston’s songs is a child’s dream come true. I could write the word Whitney rather than my name. I love her songs, the charisma and the love she created with. Like many, I love Bodyguard and I don’t even count how many times I’ve seen it, “Partlová admits.
Rachel Marron’s character is a dream come true for Šarközy, who has loved Houston since childhood. “She is the reason why I even began to want to be a singer. The bodyguard is one of my three favorites. I always have chills. When I was a kid, we had him on VHS. I watched him so often that I tore off the tape, “the singer revealed.
Machciníková reminds that Houston’s stage performance was also exceptional and varied in movement. “It will be really difficult to authentically portray Rachel. On the other hand, it is a huge opportunity that offers an incredible experience for the viewer, “she said.
The names of the representative of the main male role played by the actor Kevin Costner in the film are already known. In an alternation, the bodyguard will be played by actors Pavol Plevčík and guest Ján Dobrík. The cast of the title and supporting characters of the world musical is known a month after the audition, its preparation is gradually starting. The Slovak premieres of the musical The Bodyguard were scheduled for April 29 and 30.
