It is a daily meeting for several million French people. It could soon stop.
This Thursday, February 17, 2022, around noon, Le Figaro announced the end of the series More beautiful life. The reason behind this decision according to the daily? A drop in audience.
Could this be the end of the adventures of Thomas (Laurent Kerusoré), Luna (Anna Décis), or Roland (Michel Cordes) in the (false) Mistral district?
Phone calls and various solicitations
Immediate commotion in (very) many editorial offices in France, which are busy trying to confirm the information.
Almost the entire film crew, from the program manager to the media planner, including the management, a large part of the production was contacted by news.fr. About twenty phone calls, most of which remained unanswered.
The few people who picked up all had the same answer:
Honestly, I don’t know anything.
Some were on vacation, while others still specified that it was “not the first request from a media today”. On the side of the film crew of the series with more than 4,500 episodes, therefore, nothing. White cabbage.
And yet, it was not for lack of trying: our journalist fromnews Marseille did crane foot all day in front of studio 37, the series’ main filming location. And there, not much. Some people on the film crew explained to him that they had indeed heard about rumors, but no one confirmed.

The production company of Plus belle la vie, Newen, contacted several times, also did not pick up his phone.
“An important meeting is underway”
Contacted, the town hall of Marseille (city in which the series is shot Editor’s note), through its press service, assures us that Jean-Marc Coppola, deputy for culture, is formal. According to him, the series is about to end.
And to fuel the rumor a little more, which visibly swells as the day progresses, a member of the filming crew confides in News Marseille that “an important meeting [était] in progress” this Thursday, February 17.
No confirmation
The direction of France televisionswho responded to Parisian first, then to theAFP, explained that “the contract with Newen ends on December 31, 2022. After this date, the end of More beautiful lifewhose audiences are declining, is a possibility”.
However, the quote does not stop there. France Télévisions adds that: [ils ont] simply reopened the discussions, as two years ago”. And indeed, who has never heard a rumor saying that the series was going to stop?
Regularly, murmurs arise more or less loudly, announcing the end of the adventures in the Mistral. Technicians from the set told atctu Marseille that: “every two years, it’s the same story. There are negotiations with France 3 and everyone panics”.
Will it stop, or won’t it stop?
As these lines are written, the mystery remains. Some will say that it’s a publicity stunt to get audiences for the series going again.
Our colleagues from Figaro indicate that in recent months, the series has hardly exceeded 2.5 million viewers (barely 10% market share). This is far from the 5 million that the series managed to collect every night during the first nine seasons, even reaching 6.4 million for the 3and season.
Others will say that the rumor is true and that More beautiful life, it’s definitely over. In the meantime, at Studio 37 “everything works as usual”. A taxi taking care of taking the actors from the station to the set assured News Marseille that he has “races planned for a little while yet”.
