Kim Kardashian’s brand to supply the United States selection of underwear and rest

(CNN) – Kim Kardashian West’s underwear brand Skims will supply the United States Olympic team with underwear, sleepwear and pajamas for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the celebrity announced Monday.
The collection of women’s clothing includes sports tops, t-shirts, vests, cycling shorts and high-waisted briefs printed with United States flags, the Olympic five rings and the Team USA brand.

To the announce Collaborating on social media, the reality star and businesswoman said the Games are close to her heart as Caitlyn Jenner, her stepfather, was a gold medal-winning decathlete. In an Instagram post, she recalled attending Olympic trials and track and field events as a child, when her mother Kris Jenner was still married to the former athlete.

“As I watched the athletes compete, I came to understand the dedication and honor of being a part of the Olympics,” wrote Kardashian West, adding: “Every moment I have spent admiring the strength and energy of the Olympians from the stands it fulfilled its cycle ».

A series of photos from the campaign show the garments modeled by various members of Team USA, including Paralympic Scout Bassett and basketball player A’ja Wilson. Soccer star Alex Morgan appears in a white Skims x Team USA jersey with a large American flag and the Olympic logo.

On Instagram, Bassett described capsule collection as “a DREAM”, adding that she was “excited to be a part of the new @skims Team USA capsule celebrating female athletes!” For her part, gold medal-winning track athlete Dalilah Muhammad wrote that he “can’t wait to look this good in the Olympic village.”

Kardashian said Team USA had invited Skims to produce the articles. The designs will go on sale as a limited edition collection starting in mid-July, according to a press release.

The brand has already raised controversy in Japan, which is organizing the Olympic Games for the second time, having been launched in 2019 under the name Kimono, a pun on the name of the star and the traditional Japanese costume of the same name. The name attracted accusations of cultural appropriation, which led to protests on Twitter under the hashtag #KimOhNo.

After Kardashian West tried to register the name, Kyoto Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa wrote an open letter to the star in which he said: “We believe that ‘Kimono’ names are a good shared with all mankind who love the Kimono and its culture, so they should not be monopolized.

In response, Kardashian West said its brands were “built on inclusion and diversity as a foundation,” before changing the name to the Skims brand.
