BEIJING – Slovak skier Andreas Žampa started the second round of slalom at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing with increased adrenaline. Just before he set off on the track, he saw the leveling goal of the Slovak hockey players at the end of the quarterfinal duel with the USA. And although he did not finish his ride, he was very happy at the finish. He made it clear immediately after the editor told him that Peter Cehlárik had decided the whole duel with a converted raid and sent the Slovaks to the semifinals.
“There will be no better news today. I hope everyone in Slovakia is up. Really hat down in front of everyone on the team. And in front of the whole Slovak hockey team. We were unlucky in Vancouver, but these young guys, it’s a real ride.” stated the younger of the sibling pair Žampovcov.
Just before the start of the second round, the 28-year-old skier saw Marek Hrivík equal the score to 2: 2. “I saw it on the internet, by the way, I pushed the goal there with my eyes.”
The fall of Žamp came after a mistake, the Slovak skier turned uncomfortably, but there was no injury. “I’m fine. But I still saw a 2: 2 goal at the start, the guys woke me up. But they woke me up too much because I knew I had to let it go, but I exaggerated,” said the Slovak Olympian.
The Žampovci brothers will still compete in the team competition, in which they will probably compete against the USA. And Andreas wants the same result as in hockey: “Well, I’ll say it’s 1-0, it’s the worst draw. But we’ll do our best to make it 2-0. We’re leaving on the 22nd morning, so I believe we’ll go with the golden hockey boys.”
