Carriers interrupt protest in Kúty: Other border crossings want to block – Topky

The protesting truckers agreed with the police to suspend the protest at the border crossing in Kuty until about midnight. “As soon as the military convoy crosses the border safely, it will be blocked again,” stated by UNAS.

The union also informed that they plan to block the border crossings of Šahy, Slovenské Ďarmoty, Trstená, Medveďov in the coming hours and are also thinking about Drietom and Milhosť. “If the Ministry of Transport does not make a statement and does not invite us to the negotiating table, we will try to block the Čunovo-Rajka border crossing on Thursday (February 17),” said Stanislav Skala from UNAS.

The carriers blocked part of Rožňavská Street in Bratislava from Monday (February 14) to Tuesday (February 15), then moved to Kútov. The protesters want to meet their state requirements, which include a 30 percent reduction in tolls and road taxes. Due to the significant rise in prices, they also demand a reduction in taxes on motor fuels. They want to force their attention especially by limiting the routes along which the trucks move.

The police declare that they will monitor the situation with regard to road hauliers and will react operatively in the event of roadblocks as well as border crossings. After blocking some of Bratislava’s streets on Monday, the Ministry of Transport condemned truckers from making “hostages” out of decent people by blocking traffic.

The Břeclav-Brodské border crossing is again passable for trucks

The border crossing with the Czech Republic on the D2 Břeclav – Brodské motorway is again passable in both directions for cars and trucks. The RTVS Green Wave informs about it.

The border crossing was impassable for trucks from Tuesday (February 15) evening, passenger cars were continuously released by traffic police officers. Police urged drivers to use an alternative route.

The reason for the traffic restrictions was a protest by road hauliers, who interrupted it on Wednesday due to the planned passage of a military convoy from the Czech Republic to Slovakia.
