VW Taigo: A new SUV is coming to Slovakia. For the price of Kamiqu – PRAVDA.sk

Taigo comes in the same segment as the VW T-Cross, but is more stylish and more dynamic. And it’s also a bit cheaper.

Volkswagen is just launching the new Taigo crossover on our market. This belongs to segment B, in which the carmaker already has two strong models – Polo and especially T-Cross. It was the second of them that sold well on our market last year, even overtaking Golf. It not only became the best-selling Volkswagen model on the Slovak market, but also got into the top ten best-selling cars in Slovakia.

T-Cross is closest to the new Taiga and we’ll see if they can cannibalize a bit. They are very similar in size, their wheelbase is practically identical. However, the T-Cross is more reminiscent of a classic SUV in its body, while the new Taigo has a popular body that evokes a coupe with its sloping rear end. Therefore, it is a bit lower and longer from T-Cross to make its dynamics stand out more.

Taigo also comes with a relatively interesting base price. With a 1.0 TSI engine with an output of 81 kW and a 6-speed manual transmission, it costs EUR 17,990. The Škoda Kamiq with the same engine and transmission starts in the basic Style equipment with a price only 10 euros lower. And what does the price comparison with the T-Cross look like? With this engine and a 6-speed manual, it is a thousand more expensive. Unlike the Taiga, however, you can also get it with a weaker petrol “liter” with an output of 70 kW (91 hp) and a 5-speed manual for 18,390 euros.

The new Taigo comes with three trim levels. The lower one is labeled Life and the two higher ones, practically identical in price, as Style and R-Line. Basically, Taigo has quite decent equipment. It includes, for example, 16-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, LED front and rear lights, digital cockpit, and Climatic air conditioning. Composition Color radio with 6.5-inch color touch screen and central airbag between driver and front passenger.

The higher features of Style and R-Line are similar, R-Line is more image and contains, for example, sports seats and differently shaped bumpers, Style has advanced IQ Light with Matrix Led technology, ie with a variable light cone shape. However, both have enhanced technological equipment in the form of the IQ.Drive package. It includes an assistant for active lane guidance, an assistant for driving in a traffic jam and an adaptive cruise control ACC. Also included is the ability to wirelessly connect smartphones via the Apple Car Play and Android Auto protocols, and the two also feature larger wheels with 17-inch discs.
