The Ministry of Slovak Diplomacy has decided to withdraw the family members of posted employees at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Kiev and the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhhorod.

He did so after Saturday’s meeting of the crisis staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs and an evaluation of available intelligence.

Ministry spokesman Juraj Tomaga informed TASR about this. At the same time, the ministry is changing the travel recommendation to a level not to travel to Ukraine, regardless of the purpose of the trip.

“This decision is the result of today’s negotiations between the embassies of the EU member states in Kiev. The decision of the Ministry of Diplomacy is based on the evaluation of the most up-to-date shared intelligence, which speaks of further deterioration of the security environment and escalating tensions,” Tomaga said.

The Ministry of Diplomacy is ready to further adjust travel recommendations according to current developments. “In this context, we recommend regularly monitoring the department’s website and using the option to register on the ministry’s website.” Tomaga added.
