Again, it was about unchanging chances. What do you need to improve to finally transform them?

“We can’t get three goals so fast. Sometimes I feel that it is too easy to play against us. The game doesn’t look bad. However, a rival like the Swedes can take advantage of the mistakes. We did less than the Finns, but they came. In the second period we were a better team, but we failed to score a goal. We have to shoot like ‘Slafko’, from several positions. Things happen very quickly on a small field. You have to react to that and have two players going to the goal. ”

Why is it that you get goals easily? Are the defenders attacking too much, or what to look for faults in?

“It simply came to our notice then. Playing 0: 3 after the first period against the Swedes is very bad. You need to capture it more and care about your defense from the beginning. Keep tight. It’s always hard to catch up. ”

Out of 74 shots, you scored only three goals in two matches. What do you see as the biggest problem?

“We don’t react fast enough on a small field, we have to have more players in front of the goal. You also need to shoot more quickly. We have to get the puck back after the first shot so that we have more space in the attack zone. It can’t be that one shot and we’re going back to defend. ”

Which part of the match do you regret the most?

“Of course the mistakes we got in the goal at the beginning, but especially the second third, when we had a lot of chances and we didn’t score. If we scored once, it would be better, but it’s not played … ”

Did Slafkovsky show that there is beauty in simplicity?

“Juro plays simply and it works out for him. In a five-on-five game, we play it on guardrails instead of going to the shooting. He shows it to us. ”

What do you say to his overall performance when he scored three goals in two matches?

“From the beginning, when he came to the senior national team, he shows an excellent game. He steps up his performance from the Riga Championship to the Olympic qualification. He plays great, only he didn’t fall into the goal before. I’m glad he’s doing well. I’m looking forward to it. He has a great future ahead of him. Now it’s about getting together as a team. ”

How do you have to improve power-ups that you haven’t used in eight games in two matches?

“We have to find space to shoot. We need to move there more and create positions, not just combine. ”

Matej Tomek did not make his debut at the Winter Olympics, but Patrik Rybár looked great afterwards. What do you say to his performance?

“Paťo showed that there is a fight for a place in the goal. He deserves to catch the Latvians. Apparently he was angry that he didn’t get a chance from the start and showed that he could fight for it. He held us very hard. ”

How satisfied are you with your performance?

“I expect more from each other. It’s not that easy. I’m trying to shoot from multiple positions. I always want to watch the next rotation to make it better. ”

The tournament has a special key when everyone in the group advances. Is the real fight starting for you now?

“It’s a different format than at the world championships. However, this does not change the fact that we want to be in the best possible position towards the round of 16. We have to manage the last match in the group better. ”

You came to Beijing last and emphasized several times that you would not argue about anything. After all, doesn’t it also turn out that you had a big game outage?

“I don’t want to argue about anything, definitely not in the middle of the tournament. We are still playing and we have a match ahead of us. It’s too early to look for causes. We’re in the middle of an event, I don’t even think about it. We have to concentrate now. We need to find a way to be better. ”

Latvians are waiting for you at the end of the group. What do you know about them?

“My current coach in Omsk, Bob Hartley, has worked for the Latvian national team for a few years. They rely on details, good defense, they make minimal mistakes. It’s harder to score a goal for them. We need to handle better power-ups, which I also take on. The fight against Latvia will be primarily about discipline. ”
