The US State Department on Thursday evening called on American citizens to leave Ukraine without delay and not to go to the country. The recommendation was justified by the increased threat of Russian military aggression and also by the spread of COVID-19.

Today, Britain has advised its citizens to leave Ukraine while they can still use commercial funds. At the same time, she warned against any trips to this country. According to the British government, the accumulation of Russian forces at the border with Ukraine since January has increased the threat of military intervention, Reuters reported. However, if some British citizens decide to stay in Ukraine, they should stay alert, follow the media and the British Foreign Office’s recommendations, and make sure they have valid travel documents.

In a virtual meeting with the leaders of the USA, Italy, Poland, Romania, France, Germany, NATO, the European Council and the European Commission, the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson today expressed concern about the situation in Ukraine in connection with the situation in Ukraine. Johnson said of the same announcement that the Allies in NATO “they must make it very clear that if Russia makes a devastating and destructive decision to invade Ukraine, a large package of economic sanctions will be prepared”.

The Netherlands also challenged its citizens

The Dutch radio station BNR stated that the Netherlands wants to relocate its diplomatic mission from Kiev to Lviv in western Ukraine. The Japanese Foreign Ministry added a call to citizens to leave Ukraine immediately, saying that there are currently about 150 Japanese in the country. Latvian diplomacy has also advised its fellow citizens not to delay leaving Ukraine. The Israeli Foreign Ministry also called for it to stop traveling to Ukraine today. At the same time, the Israelis who are in this country were advised to “avoid areas of tension”. The ministry also announced that it had begun to evacuate the families of embassy staff in Kiev.

According to spokeswoman Lenka Do, Czech diplomacy monitors the situation in detail every day. However, the Czech Republic has not yet issued a similar recommendation as the mentioned countries. On its website, the Czernin Palace recommends, among other things, Czech citizens not to travel to the border areas of Ukraine in the east and north of the country and advises them to register in the DROZD system when staying in Ukraine.

Russia gathered about 100,000 troops on its territory near the Ukrainian border and sent more to Belarus, where a joint exercise began on Thursday. For several weeks now, Western countries have been warning of a possible Russian invasion of a neighboring country. Moscow denies similar allegations. They also claim that Russian troops will return to Russia after a ten-day exercise in Belarus.

Biden allegedly warned the Allies that Putin had already decided to invade

During a virtual meeting on Friday, US President Joe Biden told other Western leaders that the US believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to carry out an invasion of Ukraine, which could take place in the coming days. This was reported by The Guardian, which referred to unnamed diplomatic sources.

The invasion could begin soon

Russia already has enough forces to conduct a major military operation against Ukraine, and the attack could begin every day, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Friday. He informs about it on the basis of a briefing broadcast from Washington via online broadcast.

Sullivan said without providing any concrete evidence that every American in Ukraine should leave within the next 24 to 48 hours. He added that the US intelligence services believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin could order an invasion before the end of the Winter Olympics in Beijing and that a quick attack on the capital Kiev is possible.
