BEIJING – Slovak skier Petra Vlhová tried out the race track before the start of Monday’s huge slalom at the Beijing Olympics. She is happy with the snow and is determined to do everything in her power to succeed. She sent a message to the fans who have to get up for her ride.

On Sunday morning, Vlhová tried out the piste at the China National Downhill Ski Center in Yenching. “The track is really very good. I took two rides, I have very good feelings. The race hill is very good, the snow is very dull and aggressive on the training slope. It is therefore difficult to find the right setting. But it is very good on the race track. But I think we found a good setup with the servicemen as well, “ said the Slovak skier.

There is an unusual view on the way to the hill, which can be reached either by bus via mountain serpentines or by cable car. The surrounding hills are flooded with sun, only the slopes are white. “It’s so weird that there’s no snow anywhere else, just on the slopes, but I’m not dealing with it. It’s completely different here than anywhere else. It’s a completely different Olympics, the measures are strict and it’s not so relaxed. But it’s possible “Better for us athletes to be able to concentrate fully. I’m trying to do my best for my performance. We’ll see how it turns out.” added Vlhová.

The face of the Slovak Olympian shows that she is in better mental well-being than in previous seasons. Vlhová has confirmed this several times this season and doubled it even before the first start at the Beijing Games: “I can’t transform, so yes, I’m fine and people can see it. I’ll try to do my best. We did everything the way we should. Just sleep well.” The cloud will go at changed times. The first round is already on the program at 2.30 and the second at 7.30 CET.. Slovak fans have to get up, Vlhová tells them: “I wish you to enjoy it. It will be hard to get up, but I think you will endure and sacrifice it. I hope to make you smile.”

Rebeka Jančová, who will make her premiere under five circles, will also take part in the start together with Vlhová. “I really like the piste, also the surface. It’s such a nice hard snow, we’ll see how it builds. It’s quite wide, I think different variations can be made. It can be built harder and easier. There are ripples, If you build it over such a sharper ripple, it won’t be visible, if it builds over a smaller part of the ripple, it will be visible. “ said Jančová.

The young 18-skier is looking forward to Monday’s first Olympic start, she has a clear goal in front of her: “I want to go my level ride from top to bottom so as not to make unnecessary mistakes. I want to put the race swing and aggression into it.”
