The surrounding states are only catching up with what Slovakia has already done in this direction, taking measures to compensate citizens for higher energy and food prices. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Eduard Heger (OĽANO) in the radio discussion program RTVS Sobotné dialógy, pointing out that his government had invested hundreds of millions of euros for this purpose in previous months.

“They did not do it in the previous period, we did, and we did it well,” the prime minister emphasized when comparing the interventions of Slovakia and other countries. In measures to compensate for the increase in prices, he mentioned, for example, investments in the regulation of energy prices in the previous two years, including a thirteenth pension and a vaccination allowance for the elderly. “They can also use these funds to cope with the price increase,” he said.

At the same time, he announced that the cabinet is preparing a measure for the next government meeting to compensate the increased state energy prices for state and public administration entities. He did not want to reveal the details. “We will introduce them to the government,” he assured.

“The prime minister confirmed that the government does not know and does not want to address the drastic rise in prices that are plaguing more and more people in Slovakia. Citizens have not learned the only specific measure the government wants to use to help its citizens,” Pellegrini said.

Smer-SD advised Heger to keep quiet

The leader of the opposition Smer-SD, Robert Fico, also stated in a video on the social network that the Heger government did not react in any way to the increase, which is bothering not only people but also cities and municipalities in the case of energy. their legal obligations. He advised Heger to keep quiet instead of making such statements.
