Wild boars walking along the tram line is a phenomenon that is simply not seen. The people of Bratislava filmed an unconventional situation on video. Experts explain why it should not be taken lightly.

A group of wild boars walked along the tram line. The place under the Bratislava Lafranconi Bridge is extremely busy. There is only concrete and fences around, there is no forest nearby. The wild boars ended up trapped here, so to speak.

The second video shows how they move between two trams and then they run on the road and leave. They were not in the busy part of the city for the first time. Here, too, they are multiplied. The mayor of Karlova Ves, Dana Čahojová, says that the night service workers found a herd of about fifty pieces in the heart of the city district only a few days ago.

The head of the Lučenec district hunting chamber, Miroslav Šupica, says that in the early spring, wild boar is looking for food outside the forest and their movement can also be caused by ruja.

“Wildlife goes after the scent and it can lead it straight to the square or to the side parts of the village or town,” confirms Miroslav Saniga from the Institute of Forest Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

Not only savages, but also other beasts are getting closer and closer to human settlements, such as deer. Herds sometimes graze a short distance from the main road in Záhorie and can also be seen in the streets of Stupava.

“These animals, when they find themselves in the city, can be more stressed than in nature. He needs to be very careful. Do not take a selfie, do not try to go to those animals, but rather hide somewhere at the bus stop or on a raised place. If we stand in their way, they can get nervous and attack, “advises Saniga.

Overpopulated wild boars are a problem across Slovakia. Therefore, hunting has increased in recent years. According to hunters, the situation is better. “We have increased hunting by 4 to 5,000 pieces compared to last season, and we still have the whole of February ahead of us. Also, the African Shorthair plague in those districts is becoming more and more to the west, so the number of wild animals will decrease significantly, “adds Šupica.
