The Moroccan royal palace announced the death of a five-year-old boy on Saturday, who was imprisoned in a 32-meter-deep well for four days. According to the AFP agency, this is stated in the official statement of the palace, according to which King Muhammad VI. he expressed his condolences to the boy’s parents.

The boy named Raján was brought to the surface by rescuers on Saturday evening after a lengthy operation that attracted the attention of the whole world, the AFP agency added.

Rescue teams first dug through the ground to the depths where the boy was trapped, and then began manually digging a horizontal tunnel toward him. Their work was complicated by the rocky-sandy terrain, which is threatened by landslides.

On the spot, paramedics were waiting to examine the boy and provide him with first aid.

A helicopter with medical equipment was also ready to take him to the nearest hospital.
