The boy named Raján was brought to the surface by rescuers on Saturday evening after a lengthy operation that attracted the attention of the whole world, the AFP agency added.

Earlier, on Saturday afternoon, rescuers managed to get into the excavated corridor, hoping to find Rajan alive. He was taken out of the corridor in the evening to the brightness of the people present.

The boy’s health was not immediately known, but he was immediately taken – along with his parents – by helicopter to the hospital.

Raján fell into a narrow empty shaft in the village of Ighrán in the mountainous area of ​​Šafšávin province on Tuesday evening.

Rescue teams first dug through the ground to the depths where the boy was trapped, and then began manually digging a horizontal tunnel toward him. Their work was complicated by the rocky-sandy terrain, which is threatened by landslides.

On the spot, paramedics were waiting to examine the boy and provide him with first aid. A helicopter with medical equipment was also ready to take him to the nearest hospital.
