When does Windows 11 come out and what are the requirements to download it for free?

(CNN Spanish) – Microsoft introduced Windows 11 as a refinement of what Windows 10 has been up to now.

Among the great novelties of Windows 11 is a centered Start bar (it can be placed in the left corner as usual), more transparency, reflections and less pronounced corners than in Windows 10.

In addition, for the first time Windows will be able to run Android apps from Android thanks to a new collaboration with Amazon, but it will be necessary not only to have a Microsoft account, but also an Amazon account to be able to download and enter the Amazon Appstore from the Microsoft store. This Microsoft store also brings a redesign.

On the other hand, Windows 11 also promises to be more efficient with the consumption of battery (energy), bring less heavy updates, Xbox technologies that promise to raise the level of video games, a deep integration of Microsoft Teams, memory of windows with monitors and a side panel with widgets with information of interest, among other novelties.

Microsoft announced that the Windows 11 update will be free, but there are some requirements that must be met that we collect below.

Requirements to upgrade to Windows 11

• Operating system: Windows 10 (20H1 or newer)
• Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or higher with two or more cores in a 64-bit compatible processor or system on a chip (SoC).
• RAM: 4 GB or higher
• Storage: 64GB or higher (additional storage may be required to download updates and enable specific features)
• Video or graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or higher, with WDDM 2.0 driver.
• Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot.
• TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0.
• Display: HD (720p) or higher, 9 inches or higher, 8 bits per color channel

Microsoft also launched a tool that allows you to verify that your system is compatible with Windows 11, as part of the Microsoft PC Health Check app. The app can be downloaded from Microsoft website.

When does Windows 11 come out?

Microsoft revealed that users will be able to download Windows 11 for free this fall from the United States, but there are some minimum requirements that computers have to meet to function, although there would be others for specific functions and updates.

Those interested in testing the beta version of Windows 11 will be able to do so from June 28, but as usual it is not recommended to install this kind of beta software on main devices, since they frequently have some errors.
