Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO) said this after Wednesday’s government meeting in response to criticism of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic Ján Oravec. He said that the ministry was disappointed that the package still did not appear in the government, despite the promises, and that he saw the reason in waiting for the absolute abolition of Matovič’s tax-levy revolution.

Every single measure should be checked

According to Matovič, every single measure needs to be checked because the first package of the Ministry of Economy caused damage worth 15 million euros, because one of the improvements made it impossible to collect fines from black passengers on motorways for more than a year. “It was an extraordinary failure, the EUR 15 million people, unfortunately, have to take somewhere else now, it is missing in healthcare, education, everywhere else.” Matovic remarked that they wanted to avoid such mistakes.

He also said it was not appropriate for the government to “throw” 190 measures to deputies. According to him, they did not see them. “I have respect for the OĽANO parliamentary group, which is key to going through these measures, so I think it’s normal for him to take the time,” Matovic stated.

After the government’s deliberations, Oravec stated that he saw a certain motivation for postponing the approval of “kilečka 2” in waiting for the absolute approval of Matovič’s tax-levy revolution. Matovic did not confirm this, he only emphasized that “kilečko 2” is, according to him, in conflict with the coalition agreement.
