Xiaomi has announced the arrival in France of MIUI on 18 smartphones during the first quarter of the year.
This Wednesday, Xiaomi launched its new entry-level and mid-range smartphones with fanfare, the Redmi Note 11, Note 11S, Note 11 Pro and Note 11 Pro 5G. On the occasion of this presentation, the Chinese manufacturer also took the opportunity to kick off the deployment of MIUI 13 on smartphones already released on the market.
In the course of the first quarter of 2022, 18 Xiaomi smartphones and tablets will thus be entitled to the MIUI 13 interface. Among these, there are of course the four smartphones presented this Wednesday, but also 14 models already launched in the past which will benefit from an update by the end of March:
To this list, we can also add the various Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 launched this Tuesday. Note, however, a few absentees, such as the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G where the Redmi Note 10S.
Recall that MIUI 13 was initially presented and launched in China at the end of December, during the Chinese launch of the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12 X. If the European launch of the three smartphones is still long overdue, this is not the case for the software update of the previous models.
As a reminder, an update of a smartphone to MIUI 13 does not necessarily mean that the smartphone will move to a higher version of Android, Xiaomi having the habit of decorrelating Android updates from those of MIUI. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11, for example, are launched under MIUI 13, but based on Android 11.
New aesthetics and software optimizations
MIUI 13 will, however, add some functions and partially review the interface of smartphones. The new interface promises better data storage management thanks to Liquid Storage, capable of increasing read and write efficiency by 60%. The internal memory of smartphones will also be reviewed to better manage multitasking.
In addition, Xiaomi is emphasizing an interface based more on roundness, particularly in terms of widgets and the arrival of a new sidebar allowing you to quickly access certain shortcuts with a simple slide of your finger from the side of the screen.
For the time being, we still do not know the precise timetable for the deployment of MIUI 13, Xiaomi specifying that this may vary depending on the region.
