One of the basic preconditions for safe coexistence is mutual respect for the rules that have been agreed and to which the Russian Federation has also acceded.
“I understand and support the steps we have taken so far as the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union – an offer to continue the dialogue with Russia on the one hand and to support Ukraine and strengthen its ability to defend itself on the other,” Čaputová added.
For this reason, she perceives Slovakia’s readiness as elementary and abandoning the crisis management and defense of the state or Ukraine’s support and communication with the allies would be irresponsible, she said.
“The contact between us, the representatives of the state and the representatives of our armed forces, has been very intense lately and reflects the seriousness of the situation,” the president concluded.
