After nine months, the person will not be considered vaccinated.
BRATISLAVA. The European Union’s digital COVID card will be valid for nine months from 1 February. The restriction will apply when traveling and also within Slovak rules.
By administering a booster third dose vaccines the validity is automatically extended for another period. Uniform rules have been set by the European Commission.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Eliášová, informed about it.
According to Eliáš, the validity of nine months is calculated from the administration of the second dose of the two-dose vaccine and the administration of the single-dose vaccine. He claims that the person will not be considered vaccinated after nine months.
“After the card expires, the person in the regime will be basic, as if they were not vaccinated. The solution is to apply a booster dose,” the spokeswoman said.
The change in the validity of the COVID card is incorporated into the decrees by the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic. According to Eliáš, the validity of nine months is already stated in the new decree on the isolation of positive persons and the quarantine of close contacts.
It is necessary to apply for a digital card electronically via the website korona.gov.sk or the National Center for Health Information.
