There are 17 Olympic newcomers in the nomination of Latvian hockey players for the 2022 Olympic Games. Representatives of six European leagues are on the roster of the team that will be Slovakia’s third opponent in the basic C-group on Sunday, February 13 at 5:10 am CET.
Goalkeepers Rudolfs Lazdinš and Eriks Vitols, defenders Nauris Sejejs and Roberts Mamčics and strikers Daniels Berzinš and Gints Meija also included in the wider staff. However, the six continue with the team and will train in the national team in Riga until its departure on February 2. In the event of a failure of any of the 25 nominees, the coaches will reach into this six.
There are up to six players from Dinama Riga in the selection of coach Harijs Vitolinš, and in addition to the KHL, it also includes players from the highest competitions in Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the supranational ICE HL.
Latvian players, like the Slovaks, won the Olympic Games in the qualifying tournament in August 2021. In the decisive battle for promotion to the Olympic Games, they defeated France 2: 1. In the basic C-group, fights with Sweden, Finland and Slovakia are gradually waiting for them.
