Orban: “Hungary law does not concern gays, it defends children”

The laws passed in Hungary “do not concern homosexuality”, but “the defense of the rights of children and parents”. The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, before the European Council, thus answers questions on the laws relating to the dissemination of content that could affect minors by ‘promoting’ homosexuality or sex change among minors. Under communism in Hungary homosexuality was punished by law, and “I am a freedom fighter, I defended the rights of homosexuals,” says Orban. “It is always better to read first and then talk – he continues – the laws concern the way in which parents want to educate their children”. The Hungarian law on content intended for minors “is not on the agenda” of the European Council, he observes, but “I am available to anyone” who wants clarification. In any case, he specifies, “the law is made and it works”. From Rome, Matteo Salvini’s comment arrives: “I have read the law and I believe that every state can decide on what to teach at school, I don’t understand interference” .
