The Ivorians led by three goals through Kessié, Sangaré and Pépé before conceding a Bendebka goal in the 74th minute. The Elephants had already obtained their qualification following their draw against Sierra Leone. After winning the CAN in 2019, the Algerians missed out on their competition. Announced favorites, they conceded a draw against Sierra Leone (0-0) before losing to Equatorial Guinea (1-0). Lacking offensive inspiration, the Fennecs did not manage to get out of the group stage. A terrible disappointment.
