I don’t like the name of the band U2, I’m embarrassed by our songs, says Bono – Hudba.sk

The frontman of the Irish rock band U2 stated that many of the songs of his formation are a “burden” for him, he feels “embarrassed” and he does not like the name of this group.

Bono Vox (61), in its own name Paul Hewson, has sold more than 150 million albums with this group. In the British rankings, the group has ten plates in the first place so far.

In an interview with the Awards chatter Chatter, quoted by the BBC on Wednesday, he said it was difficult for him to listen music your own group. He added his voice on early recordings U2 sounds “very tense”. “Once in the car our song sounded from the radio and my face got – as we say in Dublin – a scarlet color. I was embarrassed. I think U2 is quite balanced on the verge of bad taste,” said the singer of this Irish formation.

The Joshua Tree’s fifth studio album (1987) was recently voted the best recording by BBC Radio 2 in the 1980s. While Bono agrees that his band “sounds great”, the singer does not admire his own vocal expression. The only exception, according to him, is the performance in the song Vertigo from the album How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb (2004).

Despite a career spanning more than four decades, the Irish musician claims to have become a real singer “only recently”. “The big discovery for me was listening to the Ramones, when I realized that I don’t have to be a great rock singer at all costs,” added Bono.
