An investigator from the National Criminal Agency proposes to file a charge in the ex-president’s tax case Andreja Kisku. Marián Spišák, a spokesman for the Prešov Regional Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed this, and Hospodárske noviny pointed this out.

“On January 13, 2022, the NAKA investigator delivered a file with KP Prešov with a motion to file a charge,” Spišák said, adding that the prosecutor, who is supervising the matter, will decide on the next steps.

The ex-president has long rejected the crime and sees the revenge of the chairman of the opposition Smer-SD, Robert Fico, behind him. Kiska also argues that he was not charged until a third investigator after the two did not see the crime.

The ex-president’s tax case concerns whether the company could KTAG to charge the costs associated with promoting Kisk before the presidential election.

In response, Fico said the presumption of innocence applies and the courts have to decide. According to him, Kiska has nothing to complain about. “He should have thought when he speculated with money to finance his own campaign,” he told reporters.

The leader of the non-parliamentary Voice-SD, Peter Pellegrini, said that if Kiska did something wrong, she should answer to the court. “I perceive that if the ex-president has committed some acts that have reached the stage of the investigator and the prosecutor to the point that he should be charged, then please.
