Breivik, 49, says he is no longer a danger to society after ten years behind bars. However, it is highly unlikely that the court will release him prematurely. Breivik is serving a maximum sentence of 21 years, which can be extended in his case.

“I can say I don’t see any big changes in Breivik’s operation,” psychiatrist Randi Rosenqvist told the AP, who repeatedly investigated the assassin. “Someone who seeks early release should show remorse and show that they understand why such acts cannot be repeated,” he said.

However, Breivik never expressed regret for the massacre of mostly young Social Democrats. Relatives of the victims are thus afraid of hearing about the early release abused to spread his extreme right-wing views. The hearing is expected to last three days, but the court will announce the decision later.
