By 18.30, they made 70 trips, with dozens of them still intervening, said Katarína Križanová from the communication department of the HaZZ Presidium. She stated that the most serious situation is in the Bratislava and Trnava regions. In both regions, firefighters intervened 19 times. “In the Nitra region, they intervened 12 times and in the Žilina region, their help in connection with the elimination of the consequences of strong winds was needed in 11 cases,” she added.

The assistance of firefighters, including members of voluntary fire brigades, concerns in particular: removing fallen trees from roads and parked vehicles. In several cases they remove torn roofs. “It is expected that trips to similar events will continue,” Križanová announced.

Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) issued warnings of strong winds for the whole territory of the country on Monday, the most serious warning concerned southwestern Slovakia. The warning against wind gusts is valid in the west of the country until 9 pm, in central Slovakia until 10 pm, for the regions of eastern Slovakia the lowest warning lasts until Tuesday (January 18) morning.
