SHMÚ warning: The highest warning against strong winds applies in the Nitra district – TVNOVINY.sk

In the Nitra district, there is a risk of a strong wind of the highest, third degree until 6 pm. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informs on the web that in gusts the wind can reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour.

“This speed poses a great danger to human activities,” meteorologists warn.

The SHMÚ issued a warning against the wind on Monday for the entire territory of the Slovak Republic. The increased second-level warning is valid until 9 pm for the area of ​​south-western Slovakia, and also for the districts of Poprad and Brezno until midnight.

The cold front will also bring snow

The SHMÚ also issued a 1st degree snowfall warning for northern Slovakia from 6.00 am to 5.00 pm on Monday. The 2nd degree warning against snow tongues and snowdrifts is valid on Mondays from 12.00 to 0.00 h in northern and central Slovakia. For the northwestern, part of the southern and northeastern districts, the 1st degree warning applies from the morning.

“With strong winds, this will create snow tongues and snowdrifts, and we expect the most unfavorable situation in the Žilina region, under the Tatras and on the mountain crossings of the Low Tatras,” added Šinger.

The city forests in Bratislava do not recommend a visit to the forest park for the wind

For safety reasons, the city forests in Bratislava do not recommend visiting the forest park on Monday. The reason is warnings against strong winds issued by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ). The city organization informs about it on the social network.

“A very strong wind is expected on Monday, SHMÚ issued a 2nd degree warning. Under such conditions, healthy trees can also fall, so we recommend postponing a visit to the forest park to another day for safety reasons, ”say the city’s forests.

The capital also appeals to caution. “We do not recommend moving through parks and forests,” the city said. The Nové Mesto district also reminds of wind warnings, in the cadastral territory of which there is, for example, Železná studnička or Koliba. “Avoid places where accidents can occur due to the wind and you should postpone a visit to nature,” the municipality notes.
