POLICY – This is called putting a coin back in the machine. This Monday, January 17, Edouard Philippe came back for Opinion on the icy relations he has with the “common house”, against a backdrop of disagreement organization. As a reminder, the former Prime Minister withdrew from the process after the failure of the merger between his party Horizons and Agir, on which he was eyeing.

A marriage that Emmanuel Macron would have personally opposed, not wanting the mayor of Le Havre to have too powerful a structure. “The rules that have been set apply to everyone except us. It’s very strange for a common house. But that doesn’t matter. We will continue to develop Horizons, while remaining completely loyal to the President”, observes Edouard Philippe, who wonders about the reasons which lead to putting a spoke in his wheels.

“Balance of power”

“I don’t really understand the strategy of parting with his right flank in the face of the candidacy of Valérie Pécresse. I’m not even sure that it will win on the left flank…”, he continues, still quoted by Opinion. Assuming, if necessary, “the balance of power” in the political discussion, the former head of government assures that he will continue to remain loyal to Emmanuel Macron, but without sacrificing his freedom.

“I don’t want to be a minister. I don’t want to go to the Assembly. I’m not asking for anything. But I don’t want to be bothered, since it’s a fashionable term”, he warns, in reference to the words of the Head of State which caused an uproar. On good terms.
