The South American state is more than 10,000 kilometers from Tonga. The accident happened on Saturday at the beach in the coastal town of Lambayeque. The scientists, quoted by the AFP news agency, announced this on Sunday. The southern part of Peru, about 10,600 kilometers away, experienced mild flooding in several coastal areas, where authorities had to evacuate dozens of people.

The pressure wave caused by the eruption of the submarine volcano also reached Slovakia on Saturday evening, informs the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) on the social network, stating that the arrival of the second wave was also recorded on Sunday morning.
