On Saturday, Slovak laboratories performed 12,981 PCR tests, which revealed 3,208 new cases of coronavirus infection. Most of them were in the Prešov region, the least in the Trenčín region. “More than 61 percent of them did not have vaccinations,” said Health Ministry spokeswoman Zuzana Eliášová.
There were 48 casualties, so the pandemic claimed a total of 17,300 lives in Slovakia.
The number of patients in hospitals fell slightly again. 1803 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized. “Vaccination protects against the serious course of the disease, as evidenced by the fact that almost 82 percent of hospitalized patients are not vaccinated at all or have only one dose of vaccine,” Eliášová said.
The third dose of the vaccine was given to 12,616 people on Saturday, and 386 people were vaccinated with the second dose. There were also more people who decided to vaccinate for the first time, and the first dose of the vaccine was given to 1,718 people yesterday.
