Colombian police offer reward to find those responsible for the murder of Santiago Ochoa in Tuluá

(CNN Spanish) – The Valle del Cauca Police, in Colombia, reported this Monday that it offers a reward equivalent to just over US $ 2,600 to find those responsible for the murder of Santiago Ochoa in the rural area of ​​the Tuluá municipality.

The head of the young man, identified by the mayor of that municipality as Santiago Ochoa, 22, was found on Saturday, hours after leaving his home on a bicycle.

Colonel Jorge Urquijo Sandoval rejected the versions of a possible participation of the police in the incident, and said that for “approximately a month there has been no procedure by uniformed members of the Mobile Anti-Riot Squad” in that municipality. “We strongly reject the irresponsible accusations that are being made through social networks, linking our soldiers with these unfortunate events,” said Urquijo Sandoval in a video shared on Twitter.

These versions were also rejected by the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, who affirmed that the National Police and the Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the crime.

The Tuluá Mayor’s Office rejected in a statement the information “without foundation, which has been disseminated on different social networks by some people who, erroneously and without knowing the official lines of investigation, have made accusations about alleged perpetrators of this crime, generating disinformation and anxiety among the community, which could have consequences in the alteration of public order in the city.

The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, expressed his pain and rejected the crime, which he described as “atrocious”. “The authorities are making progress in the investigation to find the whereabouts of those responsible and for them to be judged with determination,” he wrote on Twitter.
