Slovak skier Petra Vlhová completed the first downhill of the World Cup in less than a year. In Saturday’s competition in Zauchensee, Austria, she took 26th place with a gap of 2.27 seconds behind the winning Swiss Lara Gutová-Behrami.

Before the Winter Olympics, she also started to try speed disciplines and, as a bonus, she missed the lead of the American Mikaela Shiffrinová at the top of the overall standings of the prestigious series to 50 points.
The 26-year-old Slovak started her overall career in the fourteenth congress of the World Championships, the 26th place is her second worst result in the royal discipline. Compared to both trainings, however, she had a smaller loss to the fastest racer.
“We ride the same track, it’s normal that if we go three or four times, there must be an improvement. I’m glad I’m improving. It was important to feel good and enjoy it. With each ride I try to improve and be faster. Of course, it takes time and especially riding, “said the advocate of the Big Globe in the Slovak Ski Association (ZSL).

Vlhová moved to long skis after concentrating on technical disciplines during the winter so far. In a short period of time at the turn of the year, she started at events in Lienz, Zagreb, Kranjska Gora and Schladming:
“It simply came to our notice then. As a slalom skier, it is very difficult for me to find the right line. I’ve said it many times, slalom is spinning at four and downhill at thirty meters. I’m kind of looking to estimate when I should start the arc, what line I should go, or more to the right or left. “

Vlhová two years ago in Altenmarkte-Zauchensee did not finish the super-G in combination. The super-giant slalom is on the program on Sunday at 11.30 am:
“Maybe it could be a little better for me than the downhill, but expectations are not there. I haven’t ridden it in a long time, it will be my first super-G race this season. I’m on my feet, we’ll see how it goes on Sunday. “
