The Japanese Amami Archipelago was hit by a 1.2 meter high tsunami – Topky.sk

Authorities did not report any property damage or injury. However, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the islands should be hit by waves up to three meters away. In addition, waves 30 to 90 centimeters high have been observed along the coast of Japan. Authorities advised the people to move away from the shore quickly.

According to the Kyoto Agency, the tsunami was caused by Saturday’s massive underwater eruption of the Hunga Tong-Hunga Ha’apai volcano, located in the island state of Tonga in the southern Pacific Ocean.
