15 hours : Departure of the procession

The demonstrators who had gathered in Place Bellecour this Saturday rushed towards the left bank. They head for the Quai Gailleton for the procession to pass through the quays of the Rhône. Be careful if you drive in the area, disturbances are to be expected.

2:30 p.m.: “Lyon, Lyon, wake up”

Departing from Place Bellecour, the procession chants: “Lyon, Lyon, wake up”. After the suspension by the courts of the prefectural decrees making it compulsory to wear a mask outdoors in Paris and in the Yvelines, this week, on social networks, the collective Lyon for freedom demands that the measure be also repealed in Lyon.

Individuals and groups had filed an application for interim relief before the administrative court of Lyon on Friday to demand the suspension of the prefectural decree (which concerns Lyon and Villeurbanne) making the wearing of a mask compulsory during the day. Their request was rejected by the judges.

As a reminder, since December 30 and until January 21, in Lyon and Villeurbanne, wearing a mask is compulsory outside for all people aged 11 and over from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.

2:20 p.m.: ” I’m sick of it “

Martine, 72, from Villeurbanne: “I’m fed up with all these bans. It’s been a long time since I demonstrated, but this is the second week that I’ve been mobilized. I’m not not vaccinated, I don’t want to be polluted for a vaccine whose effects we don’t know. With the pass, I feel culturally excluded. Even to go to the library, you have to show your credentials. C is disturbing”.

14 hours : The gathering grows place Bellecour

Several hundred demonstrators turned out. The procession gives voice. “Today, we fill the place”, thunder the organizers, who highlight freedom.
