MICHALOVCE – The duel of the 29th round of the Tipos Extraliga hockey team between the home team of HK Dukla Ingem Michalovce and the guest HK Spišská Nová Ves (3: 2) had an unwanted finish, when the organizers also took part in the battle in a mass post-match rupture between the changing rooms.
Over time, the club from Spiš also officially commented on the whole incident. The sports bring a complete statement of HK Spišská Nová Ves without editorial changes:
“We want to state at the outset that as a club we absolutely stand behind all players, the implementation team and members of our club, regardless of skin color or religion.
As different information is spreading on social networks and in various media, we, as a club, would like to give an official opinion on yesterday’s incident.
We are disappointed with the actions of some people during and especially after yesterday’s match between HK DUKLA Ingema Michalovce and HK Spišská Nová Ves. The behavior they have shown is absolutely unacceptable and degrading. Insulting anyone with racist gestures and shouts does not belong to any society and not to sports at all.
It is a shame and a failure of some individuals who use this behavior to undermine the good name of the sports company, Tipos Extraliga and ice hockey in Slovakia. The custodian of the home team has been dealt with several times during similar incidents.
Our club has in its statutes, among other points, a point on the immediate expulsion of a club member if it shows elements of racism.
Also based on the delegate’s record after yesterday’s meeting where verbal and physical assault, racist assault by members of the home club implementation team and the organizing service, we decided to move the whole situation to our club lawyer.
In conclusion, as a hockey club, we would much prefer to focus on sports topics rather than such humiliating incidents, and we look forward to welcoming our best fans in the Spiš Arena tomorrow after a long time, “ said the club on the social network.
