William and Charles: the role they played in the Queen’s radical decision against Prince Andrew – TELES RELAY

Jan 15, 2022

Under the threat of a lawsuit, Prince Andrew gave up all his military titles. A radical decision by Elizabeth II, advised by Princes Charles and William.

A twist in the British monarchy! This Thursday, January 13, Prince Andrew was stripped of his military titles and sponsorships of associations, the day after the refusal of American justice to file the civil complaint for sexual assault on a minor of which he is accused in the United States. “With the Queen’s consent and approval, the Duke of York’s military affiliations and royal patronages have been returned to the Queen. The Duke of York will continue not to hold public office and is defending himself in this matter as a private citizen, Buckingham Palace said in a statement. According to sources close to the British Crown, decision “ruthless and quick” has been “widely discussed” within the royal family.

According to them, Elizabeth II would not have been the only one to make this radical decision. Princes Charles and William are said to have played a role “fundamental” in this twist. “It’s about the survival of the institution at all costs. It always has been and it always will be”, said a senior palace official. In the wake of the American court’s decision, Prince Andrew was summoned for a 90-minute meeting with his mother, Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle with his lawyer. This decision to withdraw the remaining titles of the Duke of York and to remove the title of Royal Highness therefore marks the official end of his presence within the British Crown. The monarchy thus wants to distance itself once and for all from the legal problems of Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew: will he be tried?

After a legal setback, Prince Andrew should no longer be able to escape a trial. The father of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie is sued in civil proceedings in New York by Virginia Giuffre. In her complaint, she accuses him of sexual assault when she was 17 years old. She would have been delivered to Prince Andrew by Jeffrey Epstein, a great friend of the Duke of York, on several occasions. For several months, the duke and his team of lawyers have tried everything to have Virginia Giuffre’s complaint cancelled. In vain. This Wednesday, January 12, New York judge Lewis Kaplan validated Virginia Giuffre’s complaint. A civil trial should therefore be held by the end of the year., except in the event of an agreement between the two parties. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint. The duke will continue to defend himself against these accusations”, reacted the lawyers of prince Andrew.
