POLITICAL – “Simple”: this is the watchword of a new candidate for the Élysée, and no, it is nota rapper but of a philosopher. Gaspard Koenig announced on Tuesday January 11 his candidacy for the presidential election, after a tour of France on horseback.

Guest of the 4 Vérités on France 2, the philosopher, creator of the Génération Libre think tank, confirmed his desire to run for the Élysée Palace, after two years spent traveling the country, a journey that “charged him, both personally and politically.”

“What do we do when we have ideas in a democracy? We found a party, ”he explained. Something he did in May 2021, by launching “Simple”, a party in reaction to administrative complexity, French “normative madness”.

“Almost every evening, I was living with the locals, and every evening, it seemed to me that people were suffering from paperwork problems, administrative problems, but often these are tragic, dramatic things that prevent them from to live their life, to do their job ”, pleaded the philosopher, deploring that this topic is“ hardly ever addressed in the political debate or so it is the last one which one speaks. ”

Eight months after the launch of the party, Gaspard Kœnig decided “to go through with this process” and to introduce himself officially. On the political scale, it defines itself as being part of the “great political space of the center”.

“Tired of whispering to plugged ears”

This candidacy was anticipated and was even announced on January 8 to his inner circle, report Challenges. The site of the now candidate is already ready, with a “principle of action” – simplify – and five flagship proposals: “recodify the law”, “guarantee the local autonomy of communities”, “set up a universal income ”,“ to control one’s digital destiny ”and“ to preserve the rights of the living ”.

There are therefore now about fifteen candidates declared to run for the supreme mandate. But like others, Gaspard Kœnig dismissed the idea of ​​a union or of a role of adviser to one or another, saying he was “tired of whispering to plugged ears.”

“President of the Republic that does not make me dream”, he declared, acknowledging that the realization of his candidacy would be “complicated”, between the sponsorships and the necessary finances. “But I think that if people recognize themselves in this general theme of simplification and the ideas of freedom that I carry, they will be able to say it”, assured the philosopher of 39 years.
