Slovak skier Petra Vlhová met her start number in Tuesday night’s slalom in Schladming, Austria.

The race was originally scheduled to take place at the traditional women’s night slalom venue in Flachau, but due to the unfavorable situation associated with the spread of coronavirus infection, the organizers decided to cancel and postpone the event.

He was moved to nearby Schladming, where a traditional and very prestigious men’s night slalom is held every year. The last time skiers competed in this resort was in 2012. In addition to the new famous hill, the racers can also look forward to a quality track with which they have had problems at the last two events.

Petra Vlhová, who has won five of the six slaloms so far, can celebrate winning a small globe in this discipline after the end of the second round. It is enough for her to take at least third place.

STARTING NUMBERS

The biggest favorites will go right at the beginning. Žreb assigned a unit to a Slovak skier Peter Vlhova, which sets the default first time. She went six slaloms in a season, won five and was second once.

The American will have two Mikaela Shiffrin, who has had a failed past weekend in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, finished seventh in the giant slalom and dropped out in the second round the next day in the slalom. The race in Schladming will be extremely important for her, also because it is the last slalom before the Olympics.

We’ll see the German with the three Lena Duerrova. In Slovenia, it showed improved performance and finished fourth. She had a strong start to the season, two third places in Levi, but then she performed worse.

Switzerland will go fourth Michelle Gisinwho will want to improve the taste. She did not finish the first round of the last slalom. She has been on the podium once so far this season, finishing third in Lienz.

Her compatriot will have five Wendy Holdenerwho, on the other hand, will remember Kranjska Gora with a smile. For the second time this season, she finished on the podium and for the first time in second place, although she could have won and broken her curse.

After her, an Austrian woman will be chosen on the track Katharina Liensberger, she would also like to delete last weekend. She did not advance to the second round in the giant slalom and dropped out in the second round in the slalom. Before that, however, she recorded two successful slalom results. She was third in Zagreb and second in Lienz.

The elite seven will be closed by the Swede Anna Swenn-Larsson. She can be encouraged by the first stage of the season after a one-year break, winning third place in the last slalom.

The first round of night slalom starts on Tuesday at 18.00, the second is on the program at 20.45.
