Weather forecast: Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Landes placed on red alert for a risk of flooding of the Gave d’Oloron – franceinfo

Meteo France placed the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Landes on “flood” red vigilance, Sunday January 9th. According to the Vigicrues card, only one specific watercourse is concerned: the Gave d’Oloron. The consequence of the heavy precipitation which affects the Pyrenees. The Hautes-Pyrénées, Haute-Garonne and Ariège are in orange vigilance “floods” and “rain-floods”, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques are also in vigilance “rain floods”, and an orange vigilance “avalanches” concerns these four departments and the Eastern Pyrenees.

The North and the Aisne are also still on “flood” orange vigilance.

A pluvio-snowy episode is underway in the Pyrenean departments, with low to moderate activity at first, specifies Météo France. The rains are expected to become more sustained in the evening and overnight from Sunday to Monday. This strengthening is accompanied by significant warmth in the Pyrenees, the rains then replacing the snow in the mountains. The episode should continue like this until Monday afternoon and end Tuesday during the day. Accumulated precipitation could reach 250 mm locally in the mountains.
