In the space of a few weeks, it became the majority among Covid-19 contaminations. The Omicron variant is more and more widespread today. If you’re worried about catching it, here are the symptoms that should alert you.

Based on data collected by Public Health France and published in its weekly update on January 4, the most frequent signs of contamination are primarily fatigue, but also cough and fever.

The loss of smell and taste which was a sign of potential Covid-19 contamination is only cited by 10% of the 338 people questioned by Public Health France.

Few hospitalizations

For the majority of these patients, the symptoms were not serious: only five were hospitalized and did not have to be placed in intensive care. As we now know, this variant, even if it is more contagious, is less virulent than the Delta variant. Thus, its signs are similar to those of a cold, but can nevertheless vary according to the people and their state of health at the time of infection.

Santé Publique France specifies that these results are “preliminary” and must therefore be “interpreted with caution” given that the data are “still being collected”. However, this study seems consistent with the results of research carried out in other countries.
