The Slovak art world in mourning: the leading soloist of the New Stage Theater has died! – Tops

In a statement of condolence, DNS CEO Ingrid Fašiang reminded that the history of the theater is written by successful performances and actors who give soul to the productions. “Among the longtime DNS personalities was the unforgettable Ladislav Miškovič, who played a myriad of mostly comic characters. The curtain of his life fell on January 7, 2022. The last applause in his honor will be long, because we will never forget. Honor his memory.” stated.

Miškovič has been working at the New Stage Theater since 1966 for more than 30 seasons, during which he played dozens of title roles, mostly in the operetta but also in the musical genre. Audiences applauded his acting not only in Slovakia but also in Germany. He played Koloman Župan in the Gypsy Baron and Feri bácsi in the Princess of Čardáš.

He was Tony in the cult musical West Side Story, Aramis in The Three Musketeers, and he was just as good at portraying dramatic characters as Professor Tuzzi in the production When It’s Sunday in Rome or Nikosa in Zorb. A native of the town of Nesvadby, he was also a long-time collaborator of Radio Patria and a member of the Radio Cabaret, in which he also participated as an author. He also collaborated with television and dubbing, and also has directing activities.

“The news of the death of one of the foremost soloists of the former New Stage singer, Ladislav Miškovič, struck me a lot. After a while, when I read, a whole gallery of characters began to appear before my eyes, which he masterfully created on the boards of our theater. My constricted throat slowly relaxed and the sadness went through a pleasant memory of the times when, with his artistic mastery and singing, he delivered joy, laughter and tears – not only at home, but also to spectators throughout Europe.
