In Mladá Boleslav, they have to open champagne. Škoda sent two new models to the crash tests last year, and both were among the best in the Best in Class balance sheet. However, another seven cars were awarded.

Last year, Euro NCAP tested the safety of a total of 33 new car models, of which 22 received the highest safety rating, ie five stars. But there are also differences between them. That is why the Brussels consortium awards the absolute best at the beginning of each year. The Best in Class balance has six categories this time. The condition is that at least three models had to participate in the given class in the previous year. However, only those for which no critical area has been identified can be awarded.

Six vehicles receive the highest rating and three have a silver medal. Škoda was the most successful last year. Thanks to the electric Enyaqu iV, it won gold in the small SUV class and thanks to the Fabia gold in the small family car class. Enyaqu even managed to beat Munich’s pride – the BMW iX, which had to come to terms with second place, although it is an electric car with a double price. Equally respectable is the result of the Fabia – a car that keeps the price really down to the ground, while offering top safety.

Mercedes-Benz also has two gold bars, but with only one model. In the luxury car class, the new electric flagship EQS “starred” and scored the same among electric cars. In both cases, she defeated Swedish Polestar 2 in second place. We must also mention the small MPVs, where the Toyota Yaris Cross and VW Caddy were best placed, although the Yaris Cross is really far from the MPV class. Rather, it is a small SUV, but there is a completely different winner – the Nissan Qashqai.

Nevertheless, many new car models have been launched, many of which are electric or hybrid, and many of which have achieved a five-star rating. It is a business card of great work not only for the winners, but also for the second place models, some of whom were really close candidates for first place in their categories, “commented Michiel van Ratingen, head of Euro NCAP, last year.
