Who is György Gyimesi?

His name became known to the general public last year in particular. He began to open up very sensitive topics, negotiated with the highest representatives of Hungary, became a close man of Igor Matovič. He even took him to talks with Viktor Orbán in Budapest instead of diplomats.

He even publicly sympathizes with the Hungarian Movement for the new unity. “UEM sympathizers (Movement New Unity, ed. Note)” also penetrated “into the Slovak legislature. György Gyimesi, OĽaNO MEP, openly expresses sympathy for the IEM, ” wrote the movement on Facebook and attached a photo in which the deputy has a black veil with a colorful logo of the movement.

However, this movement is close to the Hungarian radical movements, which never reconciled with the Treaty of Trianon, which meant for Hungary the loss of vast territories (including today’s Slovakia) with the Hungarian-speaking population.

According to the deputy, he fights for the pride and hope of the Hungarian community that they can be equal citizens of Slovakia. Some time ago, he even gave up the Slovak-sounding name Juraj and changed it to György.
