“We are not opposed to the vaccine pass, but it is a control tool”, declared Thursday, January 6 on franceinfo Bernard Jomier, general practitioner and related senator PS, president of the Covid-19 mission of the Senate, specifying that he could be “one of the means of controlling a vaccination obligation for the population”. The senator will examine with his colleagues from Monday January 10 the bill transforming the health pass into a vaccination pass, adopted on the night of Wednesday 5 to Thursday 6 at the National Assembly.

For him, it is necessary to impose compulsory vaccination. “The first signal to send is a clear and simple message: everyone must be vaccinated, we must protect caregivers and protect each other”, he hammered. “We must be very clear, the law we are going to vote on will not change the wave that is underway, it is far too late”, he explained, specifying that the vaccination pass remains a “useful tool”.

Bernard Jomier felt that it was necessary “projecting into the longer term”. “We must stop legislating in an emergency, even if we have to adapt, it is necessary”, he said.

“Now, we must establish the principle of compulsory vaccination, which is not abnormal, it is a mark of respect.”

On the modalities of application of the law, he specified that they would be at the heart of discussions in the Senate. “The law will be voted on probably Tuesday or Wednesday”, he estimated. On the other hand, he spoke out against identity checks as part of pass checks. “It is very problematic, and we will not accept that professions which are not authorized can carry out identity checks, it is a limit not to cross”, he warned.
