There are 403 thousand new coronavirus infections confirmed in India in the last 24 hours and 4,092 people who have lost their lives from complications. The local health authorities report this, underlining that it is the third consecutive day that more than four thousand deaths attributable to Covid-19 are recorded in the country. For the fifth time in a week, however, India has registered over 400,000 infections. Meanwhile, pressure is growing on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impose a national lockdown like the one imposed in the first phase of the pandemic. According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, one million deaths from Covid-19 will be recorded in India by August.
